Master Crystal Ahmed with her father Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed

Practitioner of Tae Kwon Do, Master Crystal Ahmed started studying from the early age of 3. She made her first poome (child’s black belt) at the age of 7. By her 12th birthday,  Crystal was a 3rd Dan black belt studying under Grand Masters Sang Sup Kil and Dr. Ibraham Ahmed, her father.

Crystal starred on a TV program called Kids are People Too, a television series that ran on Sunday mornings from 1978 to 1982 on ABC. The series was a variety/news-magazine show oriented towards kids with the intention of recognizing them as people. During its four year run, the series was nominated for five Emmy Awards and won the 1978 Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Entertainment Series. The series included celebrity interviews, cartoons, music, and other information that appealed to kids.

By the age of 13 Crystal had won a national medal for Forms at the USA Jr Olympics Tae kwon Do event held in Orlando, Florida. Locally she attended many tournaments and performed musical forms demonstrations at area malls. Crystal had a passion for teaching and judging at events.

At 25 she was awarded the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Han Moo Kwan Association 4th Dan Master rank and assisted her father Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed in teaching Tae Kwon Do to others. She had a warm heart and a warm spirit. Crystal died at an early age – but her legacy lives on.
